The Observatory House
We offer you a warm welcome to our new summer resort located on
beautiful Lake Travers. The Observatory's lodge is a small, family-run establishment offering accommodation in the heart of Algonquin
Park--a huge
nature and wildlife preserve.
Visitors to the Observatory from all over the world come to tour the
facility and can also enjoy the unspoilt beauty of
the Park and explore its forests, lakes and rivers. You will hear the
haunting sound of loons on the lake, and may catch a glimpse of beavers
building their dams or moose strolling down to drink. We are located 72 kilometers
inside the Park boundary on the Achray Road, which provides access from the
Eastern park boundary and Sand Gate entrance.
In this tranquil setting, you can enjoy our warm hospitality and fine cooking. You will be able to
visit a historic scientific site, which until now could
be visited only by educators, students, researchers and scientists, and see the telescope in
operation.
During your visit, our friendly and enthusiastic staff will do their best
to make your stay rewarding and pleasurable. We are open from the June 1. We invite you to browse our website and discover what this
unspoilt area of Algonquin has to offer.
